GOPALGANJ: At least 20 people were injured in a clash between to factions of ruling Awami League in Rajpat union under Kashiani Upazila of the district Sunday.
Witnesses said that supporters of union Awami League president candidates Selim Reza and Wahiduzzaman locked into a clash centering committee formation, leaving 20 people injured.
The injured were rushed to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital and Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge of Kashiani Thana Borhan Uddin said, “Additional law enforcers were deployed to avert further clash.”
Gopalganj Police Super Mizanur Rahman said, “Police opened blank fire and charged baton to take the situation under control.”
