RAJSHAHI: Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman underscored the need for enhancing agricultural loan for intensifying economy of the country.
Mentioning that the agricultural sector is potential sector of the country, he said the existing potentialities should be materialized through qualitative and quantitative financial supports.
The central bank governor came up with the observation while addressing an agricultural loan distribution function held at Duary Government Primary School premises under Paba upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.
National Bank Limited (NBL) and Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) jointly organized the programme.
Dr Atiur said, “When economy of many of the countries is in bad shape, even then Bangladesh’s economy is coming forward and the farmers are being adjudged as the main reason behind the success.”
With NBL Executive Vice-president Wasif Ali Khan in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by Deputy Managing Director Shafiqur Rahman, BMDA Chairman Advocate Nurul Islam Thandu and its Executive Director Enamul Haque.
