Govt to recruit 13,500 doctors, nurses

SANGSAD BHABAN: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr AFM Ruhal Haq Thursday the government will recruit 5,500 doctors and 8,000 staff nurses at public hospitals.

The minister made the disclosure while responding to a supplementary question of treasury bench member Abdus Sattar in the House.

According to Prime Minister’s electoral pledges, the process of 5,000 new posts of nurses is underway, he informed.

After assuming power, the present government recruited some 4,133 doctors on ad-hoc basis and 1,587 others through the 28th, 29th and 30th BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) examinations, he told the House.

The government has a plan to set up dental unit in every upazila health complex across the country he said while replying to a question from Muhammad Musharraf Hossain MP.
