DHAKA: Detained Unipay 2U director Major (Rtd) Khandakar Mokit Al Mahmud was taken on a nine-day remand on Monday in three separate cases.
Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mahmud Adnan passed the order after Mohammadpur Thana Police produced Mokit before it with a 22-day remand prayer.
Earlier on Sunday night, some aggrieved Unipay investors caught Major (Rtd) Khandakar Mokit Al Mahmud, 45, a member of the Board of Directors of Unipay2U, a multilevel marketing company, from the city’s Uttara area and handed him over to police.
General Secretary of Unipay Members’ Club Asaduzzaman Bakhtiar told this to banglanews.
On information, police force from Mohammadpur thana rushed to Uttara at about 9pm and took the Unipay 2U director under their custody, police said.
Earlier on May 8, three cases were filed with Mohammadpur Thana on behalf of the 6 lakh exploited investors of Unipay 2U due to making fraud of Tk 6,000 crore.
Police also arrested the Managing Director and General Manager of Unipay2U from city’s Uttara area on May 5.
They are Montaser Hossain Imon, 37, MD of Unipay2U, and Jomsedur Rahman, 52, GM.
