SAVAR (DHAKA): Over 300 factories at Ashulia reopened Thursday morning after a four-day shut down.
The RMG workers have joined their respective workplaces at 8am, says a spot account.
Ashulia Thana OC Sheikh Badrul Alam told banglanews the workers joined their works peacefully. No anarchic incident has been taken place yet.
Besides, the law enforcers are patrolling the area to avert any untoward situation.
Earlier, the garment owners agreed to reopen production at their factories following an assurance of security from the government.
Emerging from a meeting with owners and labours, Labour, Overseas Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain made the declaration on Wednesday.
President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin said, “We urged the workers to join in their respective workplace.”
On June 16, the garment exporters declared closure of all garment factories in Ashulia for an indefinite period from June 17 to avert unrest in the sector.
The workers of readymade garments began demonstration demanding salary-hike.
