DHAKA: Police arrested two prime accused of the shootout incident that left five people injured at Roads and Highways Department in the city.
The arrestees are vice president of RHD workers’ union Fazlur Rahman Fazlu, 55, and general secretary Kamal Uddin Khandaker, 48.
RAB-3 operation officer Shamima Akhter told banglanews the arrestees would be produced at a press briefing at RAB-3 Tikatuli office around 11am.
Earlier on June 12, at least five people, including publicity secretary of Central Shecchasebak League Shamim Shahriar, received bullet injury as their rivals allegedly opened fire on them following a long-standing tender dispute.
Sources said the attack was a result of the rivalry between Kamal Uddin Khondakar, an office assistant of RHD and general secretary of pro-Awami League Shramik Karmachari Union, and Shamim Shahriar.
Contractor Gulam Azam Mamun filed a case against four identified and 18 to 20 unidentified people in this connection on that night.
