KOLKATA: Pashchimbanga government will accord a citizen reception for the maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title winner Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday.
Mamata Banerjee came up with the declaration at Mahakaran (Writers’ Building) on Monday.
Ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Firhad Hakim on behalf of the state government will confer a reception to the IPL-5 champs at iconic Eden Gardens at 11:00am on Tuesday.
Earlier of the celebrating programme, Shah Rukh Khan-owned KKR will carry the cup in a victory procession.
A special roofless vehicle will take them from Hazra intersection to Mahakaran where Shah Rukh and his team will meet with the Chief Minister (CM).
Later, they will be carried to Eden for an hour-long celebrating programme.
The West Bengal CM asked everyone to attend the programme.
She also said the entrance for the programme is absolutely free.
Besides, Kolkata Knight Riders team will arrive at their hometown on Monday evening.
On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders won the Indian Premier League (IPL)-2012 trophy defeating Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets in their final match. In response to Chennai-set 191-run target, Kolkata scored 192 for five with 2 balls remaining.
