BNP demo not held at Nayapaltan

DHAKA: The pre-scheduled demonstration demanding non-partisan and neutral caretaker government called by BNP and 18-party alliance not held on Sunday in city’s Nayapaltan area.

According to their previous declaration they were likely to stage a demo in front of the party’s Nayapaltan office around 3:00pm on Sunday.

A press release signed by opposition BNP joint secretary general and also office secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme on Saturday.

The press release called upon all leaders and activists of every wing of BNP and 18-party ally and the countrymen to make the demo-rally successful through their participation.

Nonetheless, watching no gathering in Nayapaltan area on the particular day, when banglanews contacted, BNP Member Secretary Abdus Salam said actually no demo was scheduled on Sunday though the press release was mistakenly sent to media.
