DHAKA: Malaysia detained 15 suspected Islamist militants including a Bangladeshi national, said police on Friday (June 1).

The identity of the Bangladeshi national is yet to be known. However, it has been reported that he is restaurant owner and allegedly supplied arms to extremists.

According to reports, Malaysian national police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun said 6 Malaysians, 6 Filipinos, a Bangladeshi restaurant owner and a couple from a north African country were detained between March and May.

Police said that they believe the 41 year old Bangladeshi restaurant owner is involved in smuggling weapons for terrorists.
