DHAKA: Malaysia’s leading opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was charged with sodomy and corruption, has been freed from jail.

The court granted bail on Wednesday morning (May 16).

New Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad sought a pardon for Anwar Ibrahim.

However, Anwar, 60, denied the charge that he had sex with a 23-year-old male aide.

Mahathir Mohamad has promised to step aside for Anwar and wishes to see Anwar Ibrahim to become prime minister within two years after getting pardon and joining politics.
