DHAKA: United States President Donald Trump administration sent wishes to Bengalis living in Bangladesh and across the globe, ahead of the Bengali New Year.
Acting Secretary of State John J. Sullivan said in an official statement issued on Thursday (April 12).
"On behalf of President Trump and the American people, I wish Bengalis everywhere a joyous New Year. We commemorate this important day along with all those from Bangladesh, India, and around the world who come together today to mark the arrival of the New Year," the statement said.
In the statement, Bangladeshi American community in the United States is thanked for their outstanding contributions to that nation, economy, and culture.
Wishing a Bengalis a bright future, the statement further reads "Shubho Noboborsho!"
Bengali New Year-1425 will begin on Saturday (April 14). The day is celebrated amid colorful festivities across the country.
