FRANCE: Hundreds of thousands of protesters in France condemned the ongoing persecution upon Rohingya people in Myanmar by the country’s army led by its government.

Some 30-50 organizations took part in the demonstration, at the Humanity ground before Eiffel Tower Saturday (September 16).

Protesters were seen holding placards and chanting slogans, denouncing the inhuman torture upon the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar’s Rakhine State.

They claimed that the Myanmar government have breached all the codes of human rights and urged all the international figurehead bodies to take action immediately to stop the killing spree.

However, tensions in the state of Rakhine flared up on August 25, when hundreds of militants of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) raided 30 police posts. Clashes claimed almost 400 lives while nearly 4,00,000 Rohingya migrants had to flee from Myanmar to Bangladesh.

Myanmar de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi and the authorities refused to recognize their citizenship although many generations of the Rohingya people have been resident in the country.
