DHAKA: The Bengal Classical Music Festival is set to begin at Abahani ground in Dhanmondi of Dhaka on Dec 26.

The five-day long festival will be held from December 26 to 30 and the free online registration of entry will start from Dec 18.

Festival’s organizer Bengal Foundation made the announcement at a press conference in a hotel in Dhaka on Sunday noon (Dec 10).  

Bengal Foundation Chairman Abul Khair Litu, Director Nuva Nahid Chowdhury, Square Group Director Anjan Chowdhury and BRAC Bank Senior Vice President and Head of Communications Jara Jabin Mahbub were present at he press conference.

Bengal Foundation Chairman Abul Khair Litu said, “We decided not to hold the festival this year due to venue crisis. But it is finally happening with the direct support of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and people from all over the country. We are very happy that the government took stand with us.”

Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit will be present as chief guest at the inaugural day while Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, Abahani Ltd president Salman F Rahman, Indian high Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Square Group director Anjan Chowdhury will present as special guests.

The festival will remain open from 7:00pm to 5:00am everyday. However, no one will be allowed to enter after 12:00am. Strict security measures will be taken in and around of the festival venue. 

The sixth edition of this year’s Bengal Classical Music Festival will be dedicated to researcher, intellectual and academic Dr. Anisuzzaman.
