DHAKA: The Hajj flight operations will officially begin on Saturday (July 14) this year with a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight that will take off from city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Saudi Arabia.
The flight carrying 419 pilgrims on board will depart from the airport at 7:55 am, while second flight at 11 am, according to Md Saiful Islam, director of Hajj Camp.
All preparations have been accomplished. Archways were installed for safety reasons.
Apart from police control rooms, law enforcement agencies, members of Rover Scout, Anjuman Mufidul Islam, and members of Ministry of Religious Affairs will be there for overall cooperation.
This year, a total of 126,798 pilgrims - 6,798 under government management and 120,000 under private management - will perform Hajj from Bangladesh, according to Hajj Camp Source.
Under private management, a total of 528 Hajj agencies are carrying out Hajj operation. Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Airlines will ferry pilgrims.
