DHAKA: The main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr is scheduled to be held at National Eidgah on Bangladesh Supreme Court premises at 8.30am Saturday (June 16).
The decision will depend on moon-sighting too.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon came up with the announcement while talking to the reporters after inspecting the preparations at National Eidgah Thursday (June 14).
“All sorts of preparation have been carried out. Measures have been taken for around 1 lakh worshippers to perform the prayers together,” he said.
Besides, around 5 thousand female can perform the prayers at the jammat there.
Meanwhile, strict security measures have been taken to ensure safety at various eidgahs in the capital city including the National Eidgah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told media that people would only be allowed to carry janamaz (prayer mats) to Eidgah.
However, in case of adverse weather condition, the main congregation will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00am, added the DNCC Mayor.
