BARISAL: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has strongly criticized BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, saying that the BNP chief was involved in corruption and torturing people.
Addressing a public rally in Barisal on Thursday (February 08), the PM asked “Where is she now?” She said this just after Khaleda Zia was convicted by a Dhaka court and landed in the jail.
Sheikh Hasina said that Khaleda Zia has been punished for torturing people. “This is the punishment for those who burnt the people alive,” said the PM, referring to the firebombing of vehicles during anti-government movement called by the BNP in 2014 and 2015.
The PM said that the trials of war criminals, the killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four national leaders were also held in the country. The Awami League never tolerated wrongdoings in the country, she said.
In the rally, the Awami League chief sought vote for her party for the next general elections likely to be held in December.
