DHAKA: Three militants who were killed in a Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) operation at a house in Tejgaon area of Dhaka on Friday morning (January 12) were members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).
RAB legal and media wing director Mufti Mahmud Khan said it in a press conference in West Nakhalpara area of Dhaka’s Tejgaon Friday noon.
He said the deceased militants were planning attack at different important government institutions in Dhaka.
After the operation ended, three bodies found inside the hideout. They were recovered and sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue.
Several suicidal vests, a pistol, explosives, improvised explosive devices (IED), and some bulbs were recovered from the hideout called “Rubi Villa”. The owner of the “Rubi Villa” Sabbir Hosen and caretaker Rubel are being questioned, the official said.
The slain militants rented a flat at the house on January 4.
Two members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) were injured in the operation. The casualties took place when the RAB members retaliated as the militants hurled grenades and opened fire on them after 2:00am Friday.
RAB members earlier cordoned-off the six-storey building named ‘Rubi Villa’ near the Prime Minister’s Office and MP Hostel in Tejgaon, on information that militants might be hiding there.
