DHAKA: Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday (October 11) said that Dhaka Metro Rail will become visible in next six months according to the progress of its construction work.
The minister made the remark while inspecting the construction work of the metro rail project in Dhaka’s Uttara, at around 01:00pm.
Regarding the Jamaat-convened countrywide hartal on Thursday (October 12) in wake of some of their top leaders’ detention, Quader told reporters that Jamaat will be given a harsh reply if they do any violence in the name of hartal.
It won’t bring any positive result if they create turmoil, said the minister.
However, construction work of Dhaka Metro Rail began on 26 June 2016 with an inauguration ceremony presided over by Sheikh Hasina.
Together with a separate BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system, the rail project has been long called for to solve the extreme amount of traffic jams in Dhaka city.
