DHAKA: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) caught a man and seized 140 gold bars weighing over 16.24 kgs from his possession at Baitul Mokkaram Market area in the city on Saturday (August 12).
The customs intelligence officials seized the gold bars with the help of the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS).
The man named Rabiul, was carrying the gold bars in exchange of Tk. 10,000, said sources of the CIID.
Rabiul was carrying the gold in a bag and moving around Baitul Mukarram Market area before evening.
The market price of the gold is approximately Tk. 8 crore.
