DHAKA: The High Court has summoned on April 5 the officer-in-charge (OC) of Banshkhali police station in Chittagong for not recording a murder case from the victim’s wife.
An HC bench comprising Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Haque passed the order on Monday (March 20) following a writ petition.
Besides, the HC issued also a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain within four weeks why they should not be directed to record the murder case.
Home secretary, deputy commissioner (DC) of Chittagong and superintendent of police (SP), UNO of Banshkhali and OC of Banshkhali police station were made respondents to the rule.
One Mohammed Ali was killed in the incident on February 1. Later, his wife Rumi Akhter submitted a written application accusing 29 persons for killing her husband. But the OC did not record it as FIR.
Later, Rumi Akhter filed the writ petition with the High Court.
