‘Sheikh Hasina University’ being built in Netokona

DHAKA: ‘The Sheikh Hasina University Bill, 2018’ was passed in the Parliament on Sunday (January 28) aiming to set up a public university after naming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid placed the bill in the House in the evening with Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Mia in the chair.

The Sheikh Hasina University Bill was placed in the Parliament on November 21 in 2017 with an aim to set up a university for creating an opportunity of enhancing modern knowledge practice and impression on various affairs.

The House had sent the bill to the parliamentary standing committee for providing its report.

The education ministry took the initiative of establishing a university in Netrokona district in light with the announcement made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
