DHAKA: A day-long consultation workshop on zoonoses and postgraduate curriculum development was held at the seminar room of Sheikh Kamal faculty building in Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) in Dhaka Sunday (25 December).

The program was organized by the Medicine & Public Health department of SAU in collaboration with Relief International of European Union.

“The main objective of this workshop is to produce modern and appropriate course curriculum at master level on zoonotic disease (diseases of animals that can naturally be transmitted to humans),” said Dr. Saiful Islam, moderator of the program.

Statistics shows that about 75 percent of human diseases are related to animals either as source or carrier.

This is why awareness about zoonoses among people is necessary to protect human health.

The speakers put emphasis on the awareness of zoonotic disease at their speech.
