23rd Dhaka trade fair begins Monday amid tight security

DHAKA: The 23rd Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2018 will begin at Sher-E-Bangla Nagar in the capital city, west side of the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), on Monday (January 01).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the month-long trade fair, jointly arranged by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau.

The authorities concerned have already completed all the preparations, including construction of stalls, to hold the fair.

A total of 520 stalls and pavilions, including 64 premium pavilions, 27 foreign pavilions and 8 mini foreign pavilions, were constructed in the fair venue. There are also 24 food stalls there.

About 21 countries will participate in the fair. The countries include India, Pakistan, China, Bhutan, Nepal, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong and Arab Emirates.  

Tight security measurers were taken for the month-long trade fair which is held in the place every year.   

Sources of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Sunday (December 31) said that around 1000 policemen will deployed in the place of DITF and its adjacent areas.

The entire fair venue will be under CC camera to ensure safety and security of the visitors.
