28 April 2012- Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed detained for trial on charges of wartime ‘crimes against humanity’ was Saturday granted six-hour ‘parole’ to attend his brother’s funeral. After his release on parole, he will be taken to North Azampur Eidgah ground where his brother’s funeral prayer will be held about 2:30pm. Ali Ashraf Mohammad Shoayeb, 56, brother of Mujaheed, died on Friday evening at a Faridpur hospital.

29 April 2012- The International Crime Tribunal-1 fixed May 3 for taking deposition of prosecution witnesses in war crimes related case against detained BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury MP. The two-member tribunal led by Justice Nizamul Haque passed the order Sunday as the accused and his lawyers did not appear before it.

30 April 2012- Foreign Minister Dipu Moni on Sunday night said her country "is sure" that the Teesta water-sharing agreement with India will materialize. "We are sure the agreement will materialize. The people of country are also optimistic about it," Moni told reporters on the sidelines of a function, where she was conferred with the Mother Teresa International Award for excellence in social work.

01 May 2012- A Dhaka Court fixed May 3 to pass the order on the remand plea of police against opposition BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and sent him to jail. Earlier, Rizvi was placed before the court Tuesday with a 10-day and 5-day remand prayer in two cases filed against him for exploding cocktails at Bangladesh Secretariat compound and torching a bus in the Prime Minister Office area on Sunday.

02 May 2012- Tahsina Rushdir Luna, wife of missing opposition leader Elias Ali, expressed her hope to get Elias Ali back soon as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had assured of finding out her husband. She came up with the hope while talking to journalists after a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday evening. She told the journalists, “The premier assured me of trying her best to rescue Ilias.”

03 May 2012- World Press Freedom Day was observed in the country and elsewhere of the world on Thursday. The whole world including Bangladesh has been observing the day declared by UNESCO since 1993. This year, the motto of the day was ‘Free mass-media helps to change society’. Marking the day, Bangladesh Journalists` Rights Forum, Bangladesh Human Rights Forum, and Bangladesh Anti-torture Journalists Forum arranged a view exchange and discussion meeting in the National Press Club in the city at noon.

04 May 2012- Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) of Japan Katsuya Okada Friday said that Bangladesh has some problems in human rights context. The Japanese DPM made the observation at a press conference at Shahjalal International Airport. “The country has some troubles in human rights perspective, but it should have to be resolved politically,” said Okada.
