Hartal observed in Sylhet

SYLHET: A half-day hartal called by Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal Sylhet unit was observed in the district on Tuesday.
The party observed hartal from 6am to 2pm in protest against denying the bail plea and sending its central vice-president and district convener advocate Shamsuzzaman to jail.
The leaders and activists of Swechchasebak Dal and other associate bodies of BNP brought out procession and paraded different parts of the city.
Later, the demonstrators took position in front of city’s Jindabazar City Center.
Law enforcers watched the situation carefully at different points of the city and additional police were deployed in the area.
Sylhet Metropolitan police Commissioner Amullya Bhushan Barua banglanews, “Around 1, 6 00 police personnel were on duty in the city. Police patrol team, striking force and reserve force were on duty to avert any untoward situation.”
Earlier on Monday, Sylhet Swechhasebak Dal, Chhatra Dal and different front organizations of BNP brought out procession protesting against the matter.
They announced the half-day hartal from the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Dhaka Judge Court sent Jaman to jail when he appeared before the court in the Eftekhar Ahmed missing case in the afternoon.
