
JS session prorogued

SANGSAD BHABAN: President M Zillur Rahman Wednesday prorogued the 14th session of the ninth parliament on Wednesday night after transacting businesses for 10 working days.
Speaker Abdul Hamid read out the prorogation order of the President at 8:38pm in the night.
According to the parliament secretariat, a total of 13 bills, including International Crimes Tribunals (Second Amendment) Bill-2012, were passed in the session of parliament.
However, a total of 303 notices under Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure were received, of which, 15 were accepted and discussion was held on six during the session.
Besides, movers of 75 notices got the opportunity to speak for two minutes under rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure.
During the half an hour question-answer session destined for the Prime Minister, some 84 questions were received, of which, 43 including the supplementary questions were responded by her.
The House accepted 1901 questions for reply by the minister and answers were given to 703.
Besides, ministers in charge of different ministries made statements on a number of national issues during the session.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also Leader of the House, gave her valedictory speech before the prorogation order of the President readout by the chair.
