DHAKA: Indira Gandhi Culture Centre, High Commission of India, Dhaka is to organize ‘An Evening of Modern Songs’ by eminent Bangladeshi exponent Fahmida Nabi.
The Evening of Modern Songs will be held at 6:30pm on June 23, 2012 at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1.
Since the commencement of her musical career in 1979, Fahmida Nabi has been singing, writing and composing music for the last three decades that has helped inscribe a place for her in the hearts and minds of her many fans from all age groups in Bangladesh and abroad.
Nabi is a responsive and highly motivated singer and social activist with proven ability in setting-up goals and prioritizing workloads to achieve multi-faceted challenges.
Fahmida Nabi primarily renders classical and modern Bengali songs, besides Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Sangeet. She was one of the Judges for reality TV show named CloseUp1 of NTV (Bangladesh) and has also been operating a voice modulation institution named ‘Karigori’ since 2007.
Several best-selling albums of Fahmida Nabi has been released in recent times like `Ek Mutho Gaan 1’, ‘Ek Mutho Gaan 2’, ‘Mone Ki Porena’, ‘Amar Bela Je Jay’, ‘Dupurer Ekla Pakhi’, ‘Tobu Bisti Chai’ etc. Her latest solo album entitled “Akash O Shamudra Aupar” was released on January 15, 2011.
Fahmida Nabi is a proud recipient of the National Film Award 2007 for The Best Female Playback Singer for the song ‘Lukochuri Lukochuri Golpo’ in the Bengali Film ‘Aha’, Meril Prothom Alo Award 2007 for The Best Female Singer, Bangladesh Journalist Association Award 2006 for The Best Female Singer, Lux Channel I Performance Award 2008 for The Best Female Singer, Dhallywood Award 2009 for The Best Female Singer, BBC Popular Singer Award 2005 and the Bangladesh Film Journalist Association Award 2006 for The Best Female Singer.
Fahmida Nabi is a keen social activist and has been undertaking universal human rights initiatives and a range of health and social care programs among children, women and other marginalised population of Bangladesh through her involvement with the Government of Bangladesh, local NGOs, Save the Children-USA, UNAIDS, UNICEF, the Transparency International Bangladesh etc.
She has been actively campaigning for child immunization, family planning, universal education, children rights and protection, and awareness of HIV/AIDS.
The organizer invited the interest one to participate in the evening. There is no need to collect Invitation Pass.
