Quamrul admits Sagar-Runi killing probe failure

NEW YORK: State Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advocate Quamrul Islam said it is government’s failure that it could not find out the killers of journalist couple Sagar and Runi.
The minister made the assertion in an exclusive interview with banglanews at Bangladesh Mission in New York.
“Such a double murder incident in the capital can not be accepted. The detectives have failed in investigation into the killing,” said Quamrul.
In response to a query, he said, “Journalists are not a special community of the society. So, they will get legal assistance and security through the existing law for the professionals.”
Regarding war crimes trial, the AL lawmaker said that the trial of top war criminals would be completed by this year.
Quamrul is now staying in New York on a personal tour after concluding an official programme here.
