DHAKA: Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) Wednesday threatened to stop manpower export if the agreement between Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur is not scraped.
BAIRA president Shah Jalal Mojumder came up with the warning in a press conference at Ruposhi Bangla hotel in the capital.
He also sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention in this regard.
Leaders of the organization said they have taken the decision protesting the negative comments of minister, secretary and higher officials of Labour and Employment Ministry about the manpower exporters.
On September 12, Malaysia has agreed to declare Bangladesh one of its listed manpower sourcing countries as Kuala Lumpur takes initiatives for reopening its labor market for the Bangladesh.
But, the workers will be recruited based on state-to-state deal to reduce additional migration costs and to bring the middlemen (dadal) under the legal framework ensuring discipline in the migration sector.
