
CNG stations to close for 3-9pm

DHAKA: In a latest development, the government has decided to keep gas-filling stations across the country close for six hours from Thursday in a bid to ensure smooth fuel supply to power stations during the irrigation season.
Under the arrangement, the CNG stations will remain shut from 3:00pm to 9:00pm.
The decision came from a meeting held at the secretariat of Power and Energy Ministry in the capital Wednesday.
Emerging from a meeting, power secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad told this to the journalists.
The decision will come into effect from Thursday. At present, the CNG stations are now being kept close from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, he informed.
“The ministry will send a proposal to the authorities concerned to keep the country’s industries and factories except those located in industrial zones shut from 6:00pm to 6:00am,” said Azad adding, “The practice will be remained enforce two months for power and three months for CNG stations.”
Moreover, all power plants of the country will remain into operation to watch the Asia Cup final match between Bangladesh and Pakistan on Thursday uninterruptedly.
With Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Energy Adviser Toufiq-e-Elahi in the chair, the meeting was also attended by, among others, State Minister for Power and Energy Md Enamul Haq, power secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad, Petrobangla Chairman Dr Hossain Mansur.
