DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Friday morning was set free from the central jail on bail.
Leaders and activists of BNP welcomed him at jail gate after he was set free on bail at 9:20am, sources said.
Earlier on Thursday night, some nine BNP leaders, including party’s acting secretary general Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, were freed on bail in a case filed for cocktail explosion at the secretariat during hartal.
The other freed leaders are Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, ASM Hannan Shah, Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, Sadek Hossain Khoka, Amanullah Aman, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Kamruzzaman Ratan, and Shawkat Hossain Nilu.
But, four leaders of BNP’s associate bodies were arrested again at the Kashimpur Central Jail gate immediate after release.
They are Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel, Saiful Alam Nirob, Sharafat Hossain Sofu and Sultan Salahuddin Tuku.
Sadek Hossain Khoka and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi released from prison cell at Birdem Hospital.
Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court granted bail to 15 leaders of BNP-led 18-party alliance, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, until July 26 in a case filed for cocktail explosion at the secretariat during hartal.
