Muhith for new policy for disabled

DHAKA: Finance Minister AMA Muhith categorically Tuesday said it is necessary to formulate a policy in protecting the rights of disable people of the country.
The finance minister came up with the observation while addressing a pre-budget meeting with National Disable Forum and Parliamentarian Caucasus of Disability (PCD) at his secretariat office.
The ruling Awami League lawmaker said, “The act preventing the right of disables is of old version. So, it is needed to formulate a new one.”
Terming the proposal for sector-wise allocation for disable as ideal, he added, “It is a good proposal but cannot be implemented right now.
“The education ministry can implement it,” he said.
During the meeting, the two organization demanded Act to protect disables’ right, sector-wise allotment for them and some other points.
The meeting was attended, among others, by PCD convener Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru MP, Advocate Mir Shawkat Ali MP and ABM Golam Mostafa.
