Student-police clash injures 20 in Magura

MAGURA: At least 20 people, including students, police, journalists and bus passengers, were injured in a clash between police and polytechnic students in Sajiara area of the town Thursday.
According to the students, hearing the news class relegation of the diploma engineer’s status ‘a third class instead of second class’ they blockaded Magura-Jhenidah road in Sajiara area.
The angry students vandalized buses that led to the clash with police.
Police superintendent of Magura circle Shilpi Mitra told banglanews that police fired 24 round rubber bullets to bring the situation under control while angry students threw brickbats to them.
Later, the situation became quiet after they discussed over the matter with the authorities concerned.
