10 jailed for life in Netrokona

NETROKONA: A Netrokona court awarded 10 people with life imprisonment in the sensational Jasim murder case.
Netrokona Additional District and Session Judge Belayetullah passed the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.
Besides, the court also gave them additional three years rigorous imprisonment if they fail to pay Tk 30,000.
The life timers are Ershadul Haq Badsha, Mozzamel Haque, Abdul Qauder Gani, Abdul Barek, Al-Amin, Shilpi Mia, Shariful, Rukku Mia, Mostafa and Judge Mia.
On the other hand, 12 other accused were acquitted in the case as they were proved innocent.
On May 13, in 2005, supporters of Ershad chopped Jasim Uddin Talukdar to death in a local market over a dispute for lease money of Shimulkandi mosque.
Later, Jasim’s father Abdul Aziz Talukdar filed a case against 24 people under the Netrokona Thana a day after the murder on 14 May in 2005.
