Cox’s Bazar-Ctg landslides kill 5

DHAKA: At least five people, including minor and woman, were killed and eight others injured as their houses collapsed due to landslide triggered by incessant rainfall in Cox’s Bazar and Chtitagong districts Monday.
The deceased were identified as Fakira Akhter, 35, Saddam Hossain, 25, Rafi Moni Singh, 3 and A Mazid, 34 of Cox’s Bazar and Banu, 40 of Chittagong.
Witnesses of Cox’s Bazar landslide said three people were killed and five others injured in the landslides in Uttar Jhapua area and another killed in Shaplapur JN Ghat of Moheshkhali area in the afternoon.
Besides, one woman was killed and three others injured when their houses collapsed due to landslide in Akbar Shah Majar area of port city in the evening.
