DHAKA: The High Court Tuesday granted a six-month bail for two sons and brother-in-law of Abul Kalam Azad alias Bacchu Razakar, who escaped to evade arrest in a case over crime against humanity.
Justice Sheikh Rezwan Ali and Justice Abu Taher M Saifur Rahman passed the order after hearing the defendants’ plea on the day.
The bailed persons are Shah Md Faisal Azad, 36, and Abul Kashem Md Mushfiq Billah alias Zihad, 34, sons of Bachchu Razakar and Kazi Ehtashamul Haque Liton, his brother-in-law.
Barrister Abdur Razzak conducted the case on behalf of defendants and assistant attorney general Abul Kalam Azad stood for the state.
Abul Kalam Azad said the court granted a six-month bail for them but we would challenge the High Court order.
Earlier on April 9, police held sons of Bacchu Rajakar and his brother-in-law Kazi Ehtashamul Haque Liton raiding in different areas of city’s Sutrapur and Dholaipar.
Abul Kalam Azad alias ‘Bacchu Razakar’, accused for crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971, has managed to flee to India on way to Pakistan, said RAB.
