US to welcome 55,000 refugees

NEW YORK: This year, the United States will welcome some 55,000 refugees from more than sixty countries in 2012.

The US resettlement of thousands of vulnerable refugees each year takes place through the US Refugee Admissions Program.

The US State department official said, “It is important to acknowledge the courage and determination of refugees worldwide, who face great personal trials and danger in order to find peace and stability for themselves and their families, and the contributions made by so many refugees here in the United States.”

According to the US state department statistics, more than 3 million refugees have found a new home in the United States over the past 37 years, since 1975 and  the US maintaining  proudly such a robust program.

However, a nation of immigrants, the United States resettles the largest number of refugees of any country in the world, more than all other countries combined.

“It is a long-standing example of America’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable, and allowing refugee s with no other durable solution an opportunity to begin their lives anew,” the US State department said in that  statement against a query of “Why does the US feel such a commitment to resettling so many without regard to educational or work qualifications? How is the world’s largest refugee resettlement program managed?  

In reference of the ‘World Refugee Day’ The US state department also underscored the ‘World Refugee Day’ as an opportunity to reflect on the plight of the millions of refugees who have been forced to flee tyranny and conflict.

Also mention “It is a time to honor their courage and resilience, and to recognize the contribution of those who have sought a new life either back in their own countries or in their new countries.”
