Ittefaq Editor gets bail

DHAKA: The Editor of national Bangla Daily Ittefaq Anwar Hossain Manju, sued for defamation, secured anticipatory bail on Monday.
An HC bench comprising of Justice Siddiqur Rahman Mia and Justice M Quamrul Quader set them at large on four-month bail as they appeared before the court in person and prayed for bail to avert arrest.
Earlier on June 4, Takaful Islami Life Insurance official ASM Nazrul Islam filed the defamation suit against six people, including the editors of Daily Naya Diganta, Ittefaq and Sangram.
According to the case statement, the daily Newspapers published an advertisement of Takaful Islami Life insurance on February 14. The advertisement asked people to help authority to hold the plaintiff of the case.
The plaintiff said it affected his image.
Later on July 8, a Dhaka court issued arrest warrant against the editors of Daily Ittefaq and Sangram.
