DHAKA: Rankstel, private land phone operator, is set to restart its operations from Sunday after a 15 months halt.
“All preparatory works have been completed to provide services to its subscribers. The switch room also opened,” concern officials of RanksTel said.
RanksTel Chief Operating Officer Abul Kalam Shamsuddin told banglanews, “The network of RanksTel is going to be reopened on Sunday after a long time halt. Initially the subscribers of Dhaka and Chittagong will able to communicate from Rankstel to Rankstel.
“We had three lakhs subscribers before operation stopped. We are capable to operate five lakhs connection simultaneously,” he added.
“Its initial call rate has been fixed at 50, 55 and 60 poisas. Four packages will be introduced. Initially, we are providing Hawaii sets. Many new packages and sets will hit the market. Our priority is the economy call rate,” he added.
A program will be held on the occasion of formal re-start of the land phone operator at Thaichi Restaurant in city’s Bijoy Sarani at 11am on Sunday.

BTRC stopped its operation on March 19 in 2010. Later, the
RanksTel got its license and frequency back on July 14 in 2011 and its switch room was opened on July 17 last year.
