DHAKA: The opposition is still to get authorities’ permission for a venue to hold their June 11 mass-rally.
The three-member BNP team led by opposition BNP Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Farroque failed to get appointment of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner Benazir Ahmed on Saturday morning.
Farroque visited the Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner’s office at 10am. But the DMP commissioner did not meet the BNP leaders.
BNP is expected to a press conference Saturday in this regard, said the party source.
The party will stage the rally at Paltan ground or Manik Mia Avenue or Nayapaltan if it gets permission.
Earlier, BNP assistant office secretary Abdul Latif said, “We are yet to get the permission of holding rally and using mike. BNP delegation will meet Benazir for holding talks on these issues.”
