MK Alamgir’s son killed in Thailand accident

DHAKA: Awami League leader Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir`s son Dr Jalal Alamgir was killed in a mishap at a holiday resort in Thailand Saturday.

According to a family source, Jalal Alamgir died at Pattaya Beach, a nearest seaside resort from the Thai capital city of Bangkok, at about 2pm.

Dr Jalal, 42, was a teacher of Political Science of Massachusetts University in Boston in the United States.
 
The source said the family received his death news over a mobile SMS. “But, we could not confirm the reason behind the death.”  

Contacted, Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Kazi Imtiaz Hossain told banglanews, “I’ve also heard about the accident. But, I could not confirm completely.”

He also said that the accident might have happened in Phuket.   

The Ambassador said that Dr Jalal reached Thailand Friday. “I’ve talked once to a friend of Jalal but could not get connected with his cell phone again.”
