CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court Thursday issued arrest warrant in two other cases against ten employees of Unipay2U, including its chairman and managing director.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman issued the order after taking the cases into cognizance.
The accused are chairman of Unipay2u Shahiduzzaman Shahin, managing director Montaser Hossain Emon, manager Jamshedur Rahman, agent Shahin Nizami, Muradul Muttakin and Minhazur Rahman.
A court source said Unipay2U investor Asharful Ali filed a case brining allegation of misappropriating Tk 11.99 crore after giving pledge of providing double profit in 10 months.
Another investor named ATM Jahirul Islam filed another case with the same court brining allegation of misappropriating Tk 6.61 lakh giving same commitment.
The court has directed Panchlaish Thana police to arrest the accused and produce them before the court by June 25.
On May 5, of the accused, police arrested Unipay2U MD Montaser Hossain and GM Jomsedur Rahman from city’s Uttara area in another case.
On December 16 of last year, an investor named Ashraf Siddique filed a case against them with Mohammadpur Thana.
They were also taken on three-day remand in the case on May 6.
The government stopped the functions of Unipay2U, a multilevel marketing company, in 2010 alleging cheating with its investors.
On January 28 in 2011, Bangladesh Bank seized at least 200 bank accounts of the agents of Unipay2U, allegedly for suspicious money transactions.
