COMILLA: At least 17 persons were injured in a clash between leaders and activists of Jamaat-Shibir and Police in Chauddagram upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses said Police fired rubber bullets to disperse the Jamaat-Shibir men, leaving them injured.
The injured were rushed to different medical centers of the district.
Acting Jamaat Ameer of the upazila Mizanur Rahman alleged that police fired rubber bullets without any provocation while Shibir activists brought out a procession protesting torture across the country.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chauddagram Thana Mojammel Hossain said police opened 4 rounds of rubber bullets to disperse Shibir men to avert untoward situation.
But, none was detained in the incident, the OC added.
