BHOLA: Five pirates were lynched while they were trying to flee away after a gunfight between police in Bhasan Char area under Charfashion upazila of the district Tuesday.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
In-charge of South Aicha Police Outpost Mahbubur Rahman told banglanews that a group of some 35 pirates were preparing to rob in Bhasan Char at 12:00 noon in the day.
A gunfight began while police, on information, raided the area.
Angry locals beat three pirates to death during gun fight and later beat other two pirates who died in the afternoon.
Police recovered two shotguns, seven pipe guns, 16 rounds of bullet, 25 sharp weapons and a trawler from the pirates.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Charfashion Thana M Riaj Hossain told that banglanews huge numbers of arms were recovered.
Allude to some 11 pirates were killed in gun fight with RAB two months ago.
