BENAPOLE, JESSORE: A total of 14 Bangladeshi women were Thursday returned home after serving two years in India prison for dwelling illegally.
The Bangladeshi women are---- Rina Akhter, 24, of Faridpur, Rahima Khatun, 28, of Satkhira, Nazma Khatun, 22, of Satkhira, Nasrin Fatema, 20, of Jessore, Akhlima Akhi, 21 and Fatema Khatun, 25, of the same district, Nazma Akhter, 23, of Laxmipur, Sharnali Khatun, 21, Jannati, 22, of Narail, Shumi Khatun, 21, Nazmin, 23, Ruma Akhter, 19, Nazma Akhter Munni, 18, of Bagerhat and Rina Akhter, 24, of Mymensingh.
Border Security Force (BSF) and NGO officials handed them over to the Benapole Check Post Immigration police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at about 7:30 pm.
Later, Female Lawyers Association formally accepted eight women while Jessore Rights accepted six women.
Sources said they returned home with a travel permit given to them after contacting the foreign ministries of both the countries.
Earlier, they were residing under the shelter of a NGO named Shanglap after serving in prison.
The women told banglanews in an interview that they crossed the Indian border and started dwelling in the country.
Later, Indian police held them on allegation of illegal migration and sent them to jail.
On the other hand, they will be handed over to their own families.
