SANGSAD BHABAN: Commerce Minister GM Quader Wednesday said the government will open a branch of the state-run Sonali Bank in Moscow.
The minister said this while replying to a question of treasury bench member Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin during the question answer session.
Export of Bangladeshi products has been increased to the CIS countries---Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan---due to various steps taken by the government, he informed the House.
The government has taken measures to get duty free access to the CIS countries, Quader said.
Quader said the government has so far sent 23 trade missions to 21 countries -- Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Turkey, India, Oman, Qatar, UAE, Senegal, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Trinidad and Tobago, Bhutan, China, Canada, Japan, the USA, Australia, Germany and Franc--for creating new market as well as increasing export of Bangladeshi products.
