FARIDPUR: Labour, Employment and Expatriate Welfare Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain Friday said the cultural workers of the country did not get proper appraisal as the anti-liberation force occupied the power for longer period.
The artistes have been obtaining their appropriate status since the present government occupied the power, he added.
The minister came up with the observation while addressing a programme held at Faridpur Deputy Commissioner’s office at around 12pm.
The programme was held to dispense Tk 1,082,000 equivalent cheques among 36 cultural organizations and 86 insolvent cultural persons.
Khandaker said the television channels of the country failed to meet the expectation in broadcasting Jari-Sari-Pala even Baul song performances though these are the roots of our culture.
He urged the channels to emphasize more on the country’s indigenous culture.
With Deputy Commissioner Helaluddin Ahmad in the chair, Baul Ajmal, Munsi Md Ali Rumi, Laila Islam, Asma Aktar Mukta also spoke in the programme.
