COX’S BAZAR: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Ramu Upazila of the district Monday after eight days of burning down Buddhist temples, houses and shops in the area.
A flight carrying the premier and her entourage will land in Cox’s Bazar airport around 11am.
Besides, she will distribute relief and checks amongst the victims while visiting the spot.
Later, she will hold talks with high officials and political leaders in Cox’Bazar Sadar to know overall the situation of the area and leave for Dhaka around 3:30pm.
PM’s Protocol Officer Sheikh Akter Hossain disclosed the tour schedule of her.
Meanwhile, National Human Right Commission Chairman Mizanur Rahman is set to visit Ramu on Friday.
On the other hand, BNP probe body already arrived in Cox’s Bazar to investigation into Ramu unrest.
Besides, divisional probe team is collecting photos and video footage regarding communal violence in the area. On Thursday, the team started their investigation through visiting the damaged temples, houses and shops in Ramu. The probe body will submit report by October 10.
Earlier on Sunday, the law enforcers held some 111 people for their alleged involvement in Ramu unrest.
Earlier on Sunday, the local administration on Sunday imposed section 144 in Ruma upazila for indefinite period following an attack on a village of Buddhists triggered by a Facebook posting allegedly defaming the Quran.
On Saturday night, at least seven Buddhist temples, 30 houses and shops were burnt as a mob went on a rampage following a Facebook post allegedly defaming the Quran.
