Bangalee-Tribal clash

46 injured, 144 imposed in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: The local administration imposed section 144 in district town area following a clash between Bangalee-Tribal students on Saturday.

At least 46 people were injured during the clash, said a Rangamati General Hospital source.

Chhatra League and Chhatra Dal jointly called for indefinite strike in the area after the clash.

Chhatra Dal college affairs president Helal Uddin told banglanews that the strike was called in protest against assault of Bangalee students and demand trial of the persons involved in the incident.

Additional law enforcers, BGB and Army personnel were deployed in the area to avert further clash.

Rangamati Police Super Masud-Ul Hasan said, “Section 144 was imposed as the situation went out of control and it will be in force until further notice.
