DHAKA: With confidence in author Humayun Ahmed, Attorney General Mahbue Alam expressed his hope that Humayun will portray the real picture of the most tragic event of Bangladesh history, the killing of father of the nation along with his family members, in a proper way.

Humayun must remember that it is a vital issue, and we hope that his write-up will help raise the spirit of the nation towards the tragic occurrence.

Attorney General made the remarks in an exclusive interview with banglanews24.com at his office on Sunday afternoon.

The chief law officer in the country elaborated several recent issues related to the law and justice in the country in the interview.

The discussion began with the much talk-about novel `Deyal`, which is being written by Humayun Ahmed on the basis of historic tragedy of killing of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members.

Mahbube Alam, who brought the issue to High Court`s notice after finding breaches of historical truths in the first two chapters of the novel that published in a periodical of national daily, got a bit emotional while he was talking on the issue.

"I have been involved with the Bangabandhu murder case since 1998. I know about the every development of the case and through the submissions of the plaintiff and the witnesses I came to know what happened on that tragic morning of 15 August 1975," said Mahbube Alam.

"There were hearing of 61 days in judges court, 63 days in high court, 23 days in third bench, 25 days more hearing after the AL led grand alliance formed govt in the current tenure and finally the verdict was given. And I was physically present in most of hearing date, and I have my knowledge on the way the brutal army officers killed Bangabandhu and his family members," the attorney general added.

"In particular, the death of Master Rasel, youngest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, was pictured very wrongly in Deyal. For that reason I wanted to stop its publication," said Mahbube Alam.

I believe, Humayun Ahmed could study the paper-book on Bangabandhu murder case before he started writing to avoid such mistakes.

Rasel did not hide anywhere, even did not beg anything to the killers, he just wanted to go to his mother and he was shot dead.

Muhitul Islam, the plaintiff of the case told this to the court in his submissions and he also said that later they found Rasel`s body inside the room where his brain was scattered and one of his eyes came out.

"This is brutal, this is atrocious," Attorney general said and broke down. We must not let anyone to portray this brutality wrongly, he said.

atgHigh court stopped publication of the novel and asked Humayun Ahmed to rewrite it. In a recent exclusive interview with banglanews24.com Humayun Ahmed confirmed that he has started studying the paper-book.
We have sent Humayun Ahmed the paper-book on high court`s direction and wish that he would study it carefully before he start writing his novel again, said Mahbube Alam.

"It was a must for him to collect the paper book and study it beforehand, but he did not. However, we hope, now he will write the novel in such a way that the book will be a master piece and will uphold the spirit among the young generation and his readers of all ages as well."

Mahbube Alam ruled out scrutinizing the novel after Humayun Ahmed will finish writing and said, there is no scope to scrutinize the novel, it is the writer`s freedom, but we can hope that Humayun Ahmed will not do the same mistake again.

"Humayun Ahmed is a responsible person, citizen and writer. We have confident on him and hope he will not disappoint us," he said.
